Family Travel Centre celebrates 1st year anniversary milestone on its new business roadtrip
Motorhome Caravanning & Camping Show, ExCel, 14-19th February
14th February 2012, Adria Stand – S280: Family Travel Centre, newly launched to the vibrant South West motorhoming scene in February 2011, is this week celebrating its first anniversary at the Motorhome, Caravanning and Camping Show. Having achieved its key milestones throughout the first year, the business is now looking to expand its offering by adding a new manufacturer to its portfolio and growing its popular hire vehicle service. Conveniently located at the gateway to the South West in Bristol, Family Travel Centre has hit the ground running by offering groups of all sizes everything they need to get out on the road to discover and enjoy the great outdoors – all under one roof.
First year milestones:
- Achieved £1 million turnover within six months of starting the new business
- At the end of the first year, the business is on track with its plans despite the tough economic climate
- 2011 saw over 400 enquiries for Family Travel Centre’s new motorhome hire service
- Family Travel Centre is now home to a huge range of motorhomes, campervans and American RVs from established suppliers signed up: Adria, Dub-box, Hobby, and Sunlight
- Memorable sales have included Adria’s Polaris and Sonic flagship motorhomes, as well as an American RV Tiffin Allegro Breeze, sold for £145,000 and the first of its kind in the UK, and many more!
- With its packed accessory retail shop and entertaining children’s play area, the 15,500 sq. foot indoor showroom has come a long way in just one year. It was even featured on ITV’s West Country Tonight in August 2011
- The onsite workshop has been busy too, providing motorhome owners in the West of England with professional maintenance services on their doorstep
- And Family Travel Centre has been taking its message out to many new audiences in the South West including over 3,000 visitors checking out their American RV at the Bristol Motorshow last year
“From painting the showroom floor last winter to hitting our £1 million turnover milestone within six months of launching the business, it’s been a roller-coaster ride, and we’ve loved every minute,” comments Matt Hunt, co-founder and director of Family Travel Centre. “We started the business with a goal to help people to get the most out of motorhoming and ignite further interest in taking to the road. By working with exciting suppliers like Adria, we’ve been able to introduce customers to a fantastic range of vehicles in our showroom. Having our onsite, official manufacturer workshop and specialist retail shop has also helped to drive interest and meet customers’ needs before they hit the road. The momentum is now building and we are really excited to make the most of every opportunity that 2012 holds.”
Matt Sims, co-founder and director of Family Travel Centre, says: “Our first year road trip as a new business has been a personal journey for us all and has been full of major milestones. We are proud that we’ve been able to keep on track with our ambitious but focused business plans despite the economic downturn. 2012 will mark new suppliers coming on board and the extension of key areas such as our rental service offering, for which we had a bumper year in 2011. Our call to action for new hire partners to get involved will help drive this opportunity and ensure a broader audience can discover the adventure, flexibility and fun of motorhoming.”
